The collections

Swedish Match Tobacco and Match History Foundation was founded in 2007 with a view to making the company's historical collections accessible to the public and available for research. The foundation owns comprehensive collections relating to Swedish tobacco and match history.

The collections comprise documents, artefacts, photographs and art. Work with structuring and digitalising the collections to make them accessible is in progress, which is why there is no search function available for the collections right now.

Documents

The document archive are hundreds of meters of shelf space and includes archival material from the 1700s onwards. It contains mainly documents from the Swedish Tobacco Monopoly AB and its successor, Swedish Tobacco AB and the various subsidiaries.

Artefacts

The collection includes about 10 000 objects. Most articles are from 1800 - and 1900's, but there are items that are much older. There are machines from the tobacco industry, different types of tobacco packages and items as pipes, ashtrays and lighters.

Photographs

The photograph collection consists of a few thousand photographs, negatives and slides and glass plates. The images are from the late 1800s and until the late 1900s.

Art Collection

The foundation owns about 400 works of art formerly owned by Swedish Match AB and its predecessor, AB Swedish Tobacco and Tobacco Monopoly. It is mainly Swedish contemporary. The collection contains both paintings and statues of various technologies.
